What’s so different to other ‘parenting offerings’ - well, as a psychoanalytic psychotherapist I won’t give you quick fixes that don’t work, I’ll give you something very different. Things that do work, and things that actually impact positively on the whole family, not just your child.
Learning to sit with and understand feelings is something that is so often overlooked! And yet, it is this that makes the most impact on families and how children behave.
Most parenting advice is about tactics. This is about understanding the emotional roots of behaviour.
Led by a child psychotherapist with decades of experience, this approach is based on emotional development, attachment, and unconscious communication.
When you understand what’s behind your child’s behaviour, you can meet them with empathy and confidence - not confusion or guilt.

I finally feel like I understand what it is they’re trying to tell me rather than going on at them to ‘tell’ me, I can see it. Even if I don’t get it right, that works too, cause then we think about what it might be because I got it wrong.

Meet Charlotte
Charlotte Cook, the founder of The Thinking Pod, is a trained psychotherapist, completing a 7 year doctoral programme. I am registered with the Association of Child Psychotherapists and the British Psychotherapy Foundation.
It is my mission to help children, teenagers, and their families feel seen, heard, and understood - especially in the moments when life feels messy, overwhelming, or disconnected. I believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported as they navigate the challenges of growing up.
I believe in the power of curiosity, compassion, and connection - and in working with families to create lasting emotional change, not just quick fixes. If you're seeking a thoughtful, experienced therapist who will walk alongside your child (and you) with empathy and insight, you're in the right place.
