You know this feeling.
It's the bedroom floor at midnight - because if you leave, they won't sleep.
And if they don't sleep, tomorrow will be impossible.
Or it's the school gate. The meltdowns that start before breakfast. The stomach aches that always arrive on Monday morning. The phone calls from the teacher you've stopped dreading because you've started expecting them.
Or it's the waiting. The GP who says they'll grow out of it. The referral that's eighteen months long. The private therapist who helped for a while, then didn't. The workbooks. The apps. The YouTube videos at 11pm when you can't sleep.
You've tried everything. You'd do anything for your child. And you're still stuck.
Not just tired-exhausted. Worn-down-to-the-bone, second-guessing-every-decision, lying-awake-wondering-if-you're-making-it-worse exhausted.
The guilt when you accommodate them. The guilt when you push. The feeling that there's no right answer and that whatever you choose, they suffer.
Other parents don't quite understand. The school doesn't always understand. Sometimes it feels like nobody does.
You are not failing your child.
You are loving them with everything you have - in the dark, without a map. And you deserve more than that.
Here's what most approaches miss.
Most programmes - therapy, workbooks, CBT apps - are aimed directly at the child.
But there's a problem with that.
Your child isn't the one who can act on the insights. They're in the middle of the anxiety. They can't observe it clearly, let alone change their own patterns, especially not when they're nine, or thirteen, or in the grip of a panic attack at 7:45am.
What actually moves the needle is something different.
The most powerful thing you can do for an anxious child is change how the adults around them respond.
Not because the anxiety is your fault.Because you are the one who is there.
You're the one at the school gate. The one on the bedroom floor. The one at the other end of every phone call, every meltdown, every sleepless night.
And when you understand what your child's anxiety is actually communicating, and you change how you respond, everything shifts.
Not overnight. Not by magic.
Structurally. Permanently.

INTRODUCING
The BREAKTHROUGH Programme

The Breakthrough Programme is a structured, 12-week parent programme created by Charlotte Cook - psychoanalytic psychotherapist - specifically for parents of anxious children and teenagers.
This is not therapy. It's not a workbook.
It's a step-by-step method that gives you the insight, the tools, and the support to become the thing your child's anxiety needs most: a parent who understands it.
The programme integrates four evidence-based clinical approaches:
These four approaches are woven together into Charlotte's own Parent Insight Method - a clinical framework built specifically for parents, not clinicians.
Understand what your child's anxiety is actually communicating - not just 'they're anxious', but the specific emotional story underneath
Know how to respond in the moment in a way that helps, rather than accidentally maintaining the anxiety loop
Have a personalised, step-by-step plan built around your child - not a generic template
Feel less guilty, less reactive, and more confident in your instincts as a parent
See your child begin to move forward - not perfectly, but in the right direction
Feel supported and less alone throughout, because this work is hard, and you won't be doing it by yourself
Orientation Session
Before the programme begins, you'll receive an orientation session so you arrive prepared, grounded, and ready to learn from day one. This session will explain exactly how the programme, community and support works, with a tour around the community platform.
INSIGHT Training Modules
The heart of the programme. Charlotte walks you through the complete Parent Insight Method - from understanding what anxiety actually is, to building your personalised plan. Live, interactive, and recorded.
Welcome Session
The opening session is about you - where you are, what you're carrying, and what you want to change. A chance to settle in before the work begins.
Mindset Sessions
Because doing this work asks something of you too. These sessions address the guilt, the fear, and the 'what if I've already caused damage' spiral - so you can show up for your child without being hollowed out.
2 Live Q&A Sessions
Bring your real situation. Your actual child. Your actual week. These sessions are where the theory meets the reality of your home — and where you get direct, specific answers.
3 Months' Access
Every recording, resource, and tool is yours to return to for three months. Because some weeks you'll need to revisit - and that's not a failure, it's part of the process.
Community
A private space for parents on the programme - so you're not just learning alongside Charlotte, you're learning alongside people who are going through exactly the same thing. Ask questions, share what's working, and get Charlotte's support during working hours throughout your three months.

BONUS: 1 Free Month in the Parent Insight Pod Community
When the programme ends, you won't be cut loose. You'll move into Charlotte's private community for a free month - so the support continues after the final session.
Meet Charlotte Cook
Charlotte Cook is a qualified psychoanalytic psychotherapist who has spent over a decade working with anxious children, teenagers, and their parents.
But she didn't arrive at this work from a textbook.
As a young person, Charlotte experienced anxiety first-hand - the kind that professionals kept trying to reach by asking 'why.' They couldn't get to it, and neither could she. She genuinely didn't know why she felt and behaved the way she did.
It was only when one teacher chose to let her simply be - providing consistency, clear limits, and genuine presence - that things began to shift.
That experience is at the heart of everything Charlotte teaches. She built the Breakthrough Programme because she knows, from both sides, what it feels like when nobody has the right framework. And what becomes possible when they do.
Charlotte is a qualified psychoanalytic psychotherapist based in Newport, South Wales, where she works with children, teenagers, and their parents through The Thinking Pod.
"Professionals always asked me 'why'. I'd inevitably get the answer wrong. I genuinely didn't know why I felt or behaved as I did. Until one teacher just let me 'be' - boundaries were put in place and consistency was implemented. Only then things started to shift."

No. The Breakthrough Programme is structured parent support, insight, and guidance - not a clinical therapeutic service. Charlotte is a qualified psychotherapist, but what she's delivering here is an educational and support programme for parents. It is not a replacement for therapy.
Yes. This programme is designed to work alongside existing support. Many parents find that understanding their child's anxiety more deeply helps them support their child's therapy more effectively, and creates more consistency across the week, not just during sessions.
Charlotte is there throughout the programme. If at any point you feel it's not working for your family, reach out directly - she will always point you towards something more suitable. You will never be left without support.
All taught sessions are recorded and available for three months. Live Q&A sessions are not recorded, but you can submit questions in advance and Charlotte will address them during the session.
The live sessions are about 50 minutes in duration, everything else is pre-recorded and can be done at your own pace. Outside of that, the programme is designed to be practised in real life - inside your existing day, not added on top of it.
You've already been doing the hard part.
You've kept showing up for your child through every difficult morning, every meltdown, every night you weren't sure what the right answer was. You didn't stop looking for a better way.
The Breakthrough Programme is that better way.
A structured path. A method you can trust. Support from someone who understands - not just clinically, but because she's been there.
Your child's anxiety is telling you something.
The Breakthrough Programme helps you understand what and gives you the tools to respond in a way that actually helps.
